Silica sol inorganic polymer coatings have been developed in recent years. The key technology for preparing the coating is to remove water-soluble sodium ions in water glass by a special method. Generally, it can be done by ion exchange, acid neutralization, water hydration, electrodialysis and other methods to generate a very fine silica ultrafine particle colloidal aqueous solution with a particle size of 580nm (generally, the emulsion particles are 800-1000nm). The content of Si2O is 20%-30%, the content of Na2O is 0.3%¥, and the proportion of silicon oxide and sodium oxide is above 40%. The silica sol inorganic polymer coating is made by using this silica solution/gel as the base material, cooperating with pigments and various additives. When the silicon solution loses moisture, the monomeric silicic acid gradually polymerizes into high-polymer silica gel. With the evaporation of moisture, the colloidal molecules increase, and finally form a -SIO-O-SIO- coating film: IO-SI-OH+HO-SI -OH Due to the low content of NA2O in the silica sol, the silica sol has a certain amount of film-forming and dissolving characteristics, and its water resistance and heat resistance are significantly better than organic coatings. The coating film is fine and hard, no static electricity occurs, and all kinds of dust in the air are difficult to adhere to. In the current architectural painting, its anti-pollution ability is strong.
The fine particles have strong penetration to the bottom layer, can penetrate into the bottom layer through the capillary, and can react with the calcium hydroxide in the concrete bottom layer to form calcium silicate, which makes the coating have strong adhesion.
However, the volume of silica sol is greatly shortened during the film formation process, and the coating film is easy to crack. Silica sol is freely compatible with emulsions such as acrylate and vinyl acetate. The characteristics of the two complement each other, and organic and inorganic composite coatings with excellent functions can be produced.
