Silica sol has many excellent properties and characteristics, so as a fine chemical product, it is widely used in chemical, material, textile/paper, electronics and other industries.
1. Application in chemical industry
Silica sol has a large specific surface area, the prepared silica gel particles are uniform, and the pore size and distribution are easy to control. It is the best raw material for preparing catalyst supports.
2. Application in material industry
In the material industry, as a new material, silica sol attracts attention for its excellent fire resistance and acid resistance. After the silica sol prepared by reacting sulfuric acid with silicic acid containing 24% silicon dioxide mass fraction is used to treat the ceramic acid-resistant container, it will not be leaked and can increase the pressure. The thin shell made of silica sol with small particle size instead of ethyl silicate has high strength and good finish, which can greatly improve the quality and dimensional precision of castings, reduce costs and improve operating conditions.
3. Application in textile/paper industry
Treating fibers or fabrics with silica sol endows the fibers or fabrics with many excellent properties due to the attachment of silica particles to the surface of the fibers. Silica sol and oil agent are used together to spray or impregnate wool, which improves the spinnability of wool, reduces broken ends, prevents sparks, and improves the yield. When using electrostatic flocking to treat the fluff, the use of silica sol and oil agent can greatly improve the anti-static performance of the fluff in the electric flocking. The use of silica sol in warp yarn sizing can make the size well dispersed, improve the adhesion of the size, make it easy to drop the size, shorten the drying time, reduce the influence of humidity changes and reed wear, and have a significant effect on reducing broken ends.
4. Application in electronics industry
In addition to the application of silica sol in CMP of silicon wafers, it is also widely used in fields such as computer hard disk CMP and ULSI CMP. In addition, based on the excellent dispersion and adhesion properties of silica sol, it is also an important material in the TV manufacturing industry.
5. Other uses of silica sol
Silica sol is used together with aluminum sulfate as a water purification aid, which can ideally remove suspended substances in water. Silica sol can be formulated as cleaning agent for treating soil, cement, etc. It can be expected that with the continuous deepening of research on silica sol, its application field will be further expanded.
Colloidal silica/Silica sol is a kind of colloid which is formed by nm-grade particles SiO2, dispersed in water. It is odorless, tasteless and nontoxic and its chemical molecular formula is mSiO2·nH2O.
1. The colloid particles are minute, and the particle size can be controlled according to customers' requirements.
2. Colloidal silica/Silica sol has relatively large specific surface area, and high heat-resisting performance (1500-1600"C).
3. With low viscosity, it can soak the places where water soaks; therefore, it presents excellent dispersion and permeability.
4. When the moisture contained in silica sol is evaporated, the colloid grains firmly adhere to the material surface and the combination of silicon and oxygen is then formed between grains. It is a good adhesive.
