Introduction and application scenarios of high-purity silica sol Silica Gel
Silica sol (mSiO2•nH2O) is a dispersion of very small nano-scale silica particles in water. The silica sol particles dispersed in water are slightly spherical and have no pores. The particles are composed of dense silica core and silanol ( Si-OH) base-covered surface composition, the appearance is the mostly milky white or light blue transparent solution.
Silica sol belongs to colloidal solution, which is odorless and non-toxic. Since the size of colloidal particles is nano-scale and has a relatively large specific surface area, the particles themselves are colorless and transparent, and do not affect the true color of the covering.
The viscosity is low, and the place where water can penetrate can penetrate, so the dispersibility and permeability are very good when mixed with other substances. When the silica sol moisture evaporates, the colloidal particles are firmly attached to the surface of the object, and the silicon-oxygen bond is formed between the particles, which is a good adhesive. Silica sol can be widely used in many industries due to its good adhesion, high-temperature resistance, film forming, gelling, charging, large specific surface area, non-toxic, and odorless properties.
The main purpose
3.1 Investment casting
Because of its good adhesion, low shrinkage and its perfect glass phase transition at high temperature, silica sol is widely used as a mold shell binder in the precision casting industry.
3.2 Refractories
Silicate refractory fiber with silica sol as the main raw material is widely used as thermal insulation material in thermal and industrial equipment such as furnaces and kilns due to its excellent energy saving and high temperature resistance. Other amorphous refractory materials that use silica sol as a binder, because they will not bring in various low-melting point oxides, improve the performance, and have high mold release strength, high-temperature volume stability, and good high-temperature thermal shock resistance, etc. advantage. In addition, the acid-resistant cement or ceramics treated with silica sol can be used to prepare chemical equipment capable of resisting strong acids, which can prevent acid penetration and withstand high pressure.
3.3 Paint
Due to the small size of silica sol particles and high surface area, a large number of silanol groups on the surface of silica sol particles have strong interactions with metal substrates, inorganic fillers in coatings such as commonly used metal oxides, polymers and emulsion base materials. . This interaction gives the coating strong adhesion to a variety of different substrates, as well as higher strength and better durability.
The composite exterior wall coating is made of silica sol as the main film-forming substance, synthetic emulsion (such as styrene-acrylic emulsion, vinyl acetate resin emulsion) as auxiliary film-forming substance, and pigments, fillers and additives. It has unique water resistance, In recent years, it has become a leader in architectural coatings due to its fire resistance, washing resistance and pollution resistance. The casting coating prepared by mixing silica sol and refractory powder can better prevent molten steel from melting and wear on the plate when casting steel ingots.
3.4 Textile Industry
Treating wool with silica sol and wool oil can improve the spinnability of wool, reduce end breakage, prevent flying flowers, and increase yield; when used in sizing liquid for light yarn, it can improve the adhesion of the size and make it easy to fall. , to shorten the drying time, etc.; when added to the textile resin, it can make the yarn non-slip, make the fabric crisp, dry, and control the luster of the fabric.
Silica sol is used as a flocking additive, which can greatly improve the antistatic ability of the fluff.
In addition, silica sol can also be widely used as a treatment agent for various fabrics, regardless of various textiles and knitwear, or fabrics made of nylon, viscose fiber, acetate fiber, polyester, polypropylene, etc. , Both have the advantages of matting, non-slip, wear-resistant, washable, pollution-resistant, and anti-static.
3.5 Paper Industry
Cellophane and plastic film tend to be sticky in summer. If they are treated with a mixture of silica sol and glyceryl monostearate, it can be solved satisfactorily. Photosensitive paper is treated with a mixture of silica sol and photosensitive liquid, which can make the surface of photosensitive paper smooth, the image clear, and increase the exposure range. It is used for pre-coating of printing paper, copy paper and offset printing paper, which can make the paper surface smooth, the image contrast is clear and the contrast is good. After the surface of kraft paper and corrugated paper is treated with silica sol, it can improve the slip resistance of the paper, reduce the sliding during transportation and storage, and improve the moisture resistance strength of the paper product. In the manufacture of non-carbon copy paper, using silica sol instead of clay, talcum powder and carbon dioxide powder coating can make its color more vivid. The punched card used by the electronic computer, coated with silica sol, can make it have high stability and anti-skid property, and the printability is good.
3.6 Battery Industry
The silica sol is added to the electrolyte of the battery to form a conductive gel, which can prevent the leakage of the electrolyte, reduce pollution, and prolong the service life of the battery.
3.7 Catalyst Industry
Taking advantage of the large specific surface area and activity of silica sol, it can also be used as a catalyst support.
3.8 Other Industries
Silica sol can also be widely used as water purifying agent, clarifying agent, dispersant for picture tube coating, polishing agent for semiconductor components, and can also be used for processing carbon products, chemical textile decorations and reinforced foam rubber, etc.
4. Packaging and storage
It is packed in plastic barrels, and the packing specification is 25kg/250kg/1000kg, and can also be customized according to customer needs.
Store in a ventilated and cool warehouse, avoid hot sun exposure during transportation, and prevent freezing in winter. It is required to store and transport under the condition of 5-35°C.
Colloidal silica/Silica sol is a kind of colloid which is formed by nm-grade particles SiO2, dispersed in water. It is odorless, tasteless and nontoxic and its chemical molecular formula is mSiO2·nH2O.
1. The colloid particles are minute, and the particle size can be controlled according to customers' requirements.
2. Colloidal silica/Silica sol has relatively large specific surface area, and high heat-resisting performance (1500-1600"C).
3. With low viscosity, it can soak the places where water soaks; therefore, it presents excellent dispersion and permeability.
4. When the moisture contained in silica sol is evaporated, the colloid grains firmly adhere to the material surface and the combination of silicon and oxygen is then formed between grains. It is a good adhesive.
Product application: coating, refractory industries, investment casting, polishing etc.
